Somalia continues to face overlapping crises from conflict and displacement to climate vulnerability and weak governance. The Somali diaspora, long a driver of remittances and community development, remains underrepresented in policy dialogue and humanitarian coordination. SDAWG was established to address this gap transforming dispersed efforts into strategic, sustained advocacy.
The Somali Diaspora Advocacy Working Group (SDAWG) is a professional platform that unites Somali diaspora leaders, practitioners, and advocates committed to advancing rights-based and locally led solutions for Somalia. We draw on our collective experience, influence, and global networks to amplify Somali voices in international policy spaces.
We are committed to institutionalising diaspora engagement in policy debate, humanitarian coordination, and development partnership. By elevating Somali perspectives in international fora, we harness transnational networks and collective expertise to drive impactful change and foster durable, community-driven solutions.
